Mario Kart Wii is a kart racing video game by Nintendo for the Wii console. The game is currently projected for a worldwide release in the second quarter of 2008. The game will be released on April 10, 2008 in Japan, April 11, 2008 in Europe, April 24, 2008 in Australia and April 27, 2008 in North America. The game will be packaged with the Wii Wheel accessory, which is designed to house the Wii Remote to allow more intuitive and conventional steering.[7] Contents [hide] 1 Gameplay 1.1 Characters 1.2 Karts 1.3 Tracks 2 Development 3 Reviews 4 References 5 External links [edit] Gameplay Like its predecessor, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii is based around single driver gameplay, unlike the approach by Mario Kart: Double Dash!! on the Nintendo GameCube, which featured two players on one kart. A total of five different control choices have been confirmed. Players can choose to play the game using the Wii Wheel peripheral that comes packaged with the game, with the Wii Remote tilted on its side, the remote and nunchuk, a Nintendo GameCube controller, or a Wii Classic Controller.[8] This game has been announced as supporting the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. It will support an online racing mode where players will be able to go against each other in a single race racing simultaneously and an online battle mode. It has been confirmed that it will also feature 12 player online races, and 8 player online battles. It has also been confirmed that there will be online leagues and rankings along with local rankings. Famitsu reports that most of the online ranking would be done from a whole separate channel. You will also be able to download and send ghost data using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.[9][10] Nintendo's UK site confirms that the European release of game will feature online text chat between players.[11] It will also feature an online spectator option which allows you to view your friends races and join in at the start of the next course.[11] There will also be special worldwide online events organized by Nintendo.[8] The text chat feature was also confirmed by IGN, but adds that users will only be able to select from a series of predetermined phrases. There is already apprehension among IGN's users towards a feature they see as being too "safe". [12] It was revealed by NGamer magazine that the game would feature many of the old weapons and items that have been used in past Mario Kart games, and that a number of new items are also being added.[citation needed] In addition to expanded gameplay, motorcycles were added. Players can either choose to use a motorcycle or a kart. But, as shown in videos and screenshots, different players can use karts or motorcycles simultaneously during gameplay.[13] In addition, "Famitsu" magazine revealed that you can now perform tricks in the air by moving the steering wheel, or Wii Remote, respectively. The game will also have 16 brand new tracks, and 16 remakes of older tracks, which was also incorporated into Mario Kart DS. 10 battle stages are also being added. Miis will be usable during the game, and a separate channel, Mario Kart Channel, will be created to download other players' ghost times for the game.[14] [edit] Characters Main article: Mario Kart playable characters [edit] Karts A feature returning from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS is the use of multiple karts for each character. Each weight class appears to have their own vehicles, from a muscle car-like hot rod for Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, and Bowser to a baby stroller/pushchair for Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, and Toad. Also, there appears to be a basic "Kart" and motorcycle for each character, with the karts being similar to the karts from Mario Kart Arcade GP. The official names of these vehicles have not yet been revealed, although Famitsu magazine has revealed that the Wario Bike from the WarioWare series will be one of the vehicles used in the game. It has been announced that all racers have a choice of 3 karts and 3 motorcycles, and that 50cc mode will feature karts only, 100cc mode will feature motorcycles only, and 150cc mode will feature a mix of both. It has also been announced that stunts will play a big part of the game, allowing the player to gain a boost after a stunt.[citation needed] [edit] Tracks The Mario Kart Wii version of Yoshi FallsMario Kart Wii has been confirmed to have at least 32 tracks: 16 of them being entirely new, while the other 16 are remakes of older tracks from prior games of the Mario Kart Series. According to an IGN "hands-on" session, 8 new tracks and 8 old tracks are available at the start of the game, and the others need to be unlocked. i WILL buy this game

(Music By Juno Reactor) The first video thats related to this is the entire video. this is just a demo. heres the Specs: This project was done for a graduating grade at my high school. the grade on it was a 98% and i got a 95 on my speech (which was 12 minutes long.) this was the video i showed during my presentation. this project took a total of 2 to 3 months of work, and i started with ordering a set of go-kart plance from Don's DIY Den (diyden.net.) The go-kart was origionally designed for a 5 horsepower motor, but i put in a monster 18 horsepower twin cylinder motor. it wasnt the BEST idea because the ngine is on the side and it is kind of off weight. other than that and the crappy breaks, there are no real problems with it. The frame used mostly .095" one inch square tubing, and for the braces and brackets, i used 1/4" sheet metal. All of the parts in which i did not build or find from friends, i obtained from northern tool (northerntool.com.) some parts like the front wheels and steering wheel, i got from friends or yard sales. i got the engine from my stepbrother Tony moore who i thank dearly. the engine is $1400 brand new. it was used in Iraq to power a giant frige. tony bought it to grind up horse poop. and i got it for free. This thing started up the first pull and yes, i know the mixure is off, but once we got this thing working, it topped out at about 50 MPH, andhad real nice handling. not that great of a turning radious, but good handling. the clutch was actually a belt clutch and i welded on a sprocket, and it worked perfectly. it is a single speed which is similar to second gear. im DYING for a two pully centrifugal clutch system so i can get all my horsepowers out. either that or some shifter clutch five speed i have done substantial work since this video. the front shocks DO look bent. theyre not. single A-arm suspentions do move around like that. i admit it does look dumb, SO i put some real beefy shocks up front, and it did give it a four or five inch lift. and now it doesnt look bent anymore. it went from lookling like this: /-\ to this |-| Rob and i welded on it using some TIG a lot of MIG, but mostly flux chore welding. i used PAC to cut some pieces and i used a hydraulic sheer to cut and bend a lot of the bracings, mounts, and brackets. this project took a tootal of $700 dollars. its a good price considering the fact that the motor is $1300 brand new. honors #60 - Top Rated (This Month) - Autos & Vehicles #48 - Most Discussed (This Month) - Autos & Vehicles (UPDATE 11/1/07)- I found this project to be a big dissapointment to my highschool career. its honestly one of my biggest accomplishments i will ever complete in my lifetime, and i was not accredited properly. the school had an award ceremony for the best senior projects. it was narrowed down to the special edd kids, the dance kids welding stuff, and so on. it was completely rediculous. a girl got an award for learning how to dance. a kid got an award for learning how to play drums. every single award was like that. no big accomplishments at all. and no award for me. all this was done with my bare hands. i put more effort into this than most of thie kids didn on theirs in the 3000 student school. and the schools system wasnt professional enough to even notice my project. even though i felt like it was a horrible waste of time when i didnt get any awards, its still an accomplishment for me. the gokart is currently sitting out in my backyard. it still runs good, but i still need to add one or two support rails on the frame. the torque of the motor and the poorly designed chain guard snapped the chain. once i get off my lazy but, i might fix it.

SNES Mario Kart running on the 301 motion platform. If we can do this, imagine what else we can do... To see more about our motion systems, check out our web site at www.force-dynamics.com! ---------------- A quick FAQ ---------------- 1. Yes, my driving is lousy. I'm used to hardcore racing sims and it's been 15+ years since I spent any time with MK. I had about an hour with the machine actually running Mario Kart, since we built it for another project, and the video you see was the first take. Also, I had some specific goals (the jump, the bumps, the mole) that made driving well secondary. 2. The reaction speed is quite good - about 10ms from game event to machine motion. Watch during the jumps. 3. I tried it with a 'normal' 301 using the steering wheel. It's next to impossible, because the control inputs are on/off, not analog, so you have to whip the wheel back and forth like a madman. We'd have to write code to pulse-width-modulate the output from the wheel. Plus, it's Mario Kart. You -have- to play it with a gamepad. 4. Yes, FZero would be very cool. Maybe it's time to write that pulse width modulation output...

This is a compilation of the more superior shortcuts. It requires a high consistent of patience and aim. Shortcut difficulty: 1. Mushroom Gorge 7/10 - Get to a certain position like I did on the video, and boost just before you hit the off-road. Now before you go off the edge, quickly press jump while turning left. 2. Toad's Factory 6/10 - Drift slightly to the right before hitting the bump and quickly do a trick. Try not to drift too much or you'll crash into the water. 3. Grumble Volcano 9/10 - Make sure to angle your vehicle until you can see the gap clearly. You need to be careful not to hit the mountain while approaching it. Extremely risky but worth it. An even better alternative: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=joMbFFk6WZ8 (Thanks goes to Ridley who found them) 4. GBA Bowser Castle 3 10/10 - The hardest of the bunch. Why? Because it comes down to luck when trying to get into a certain position, and anybody could possibly crash into you. Anyway, the best way to do it is to boost towards the upper-left ramp. Very rewarding if succeeded. 5. N64 Bowser's Castle 5/10 - Make sure to line your vehicle towards the narrow platform. It would be best not to go too far on the right in case you fall into the lava. Easy once mastered.

I've added annotations to the video. Hopefully this should provide more guidance on how to trigger the checkpoints. This shortcut is groundbreaking. Literally.
