A brief description of looking at Jupiter through an 11in schmidt cassegrain reflector. However the scope was in this case clearly limited by the atmosphere (basically a telescope about half the size would have given about the same performance. Its actually an 11in CPC celestron which come in at about 2.5k bux. It comes with lots of bells n whistles and is impressively quick and easy to set up. Jupiter is typically the fourth brightest object in the sky and is currently (end of summer 08) seen in the South at sunset.

The complex interactions of charged electromagnetic particles from the solar wind , planetary magnetosphere etc. create vibration "soundscapes". It sounds very interesting, even scary. Jupiter is mostly composed of hydrogen and helium. The entire planet is made of gas, with no solid surface under the atmosphere. The pressures and temperatures deep in Jupiter are so high that gases form a gradual transition into liquids which are gradually compressed into a metallic "plasma" in which the molecules have been stripped of their outer electrons. The winds of Jupiter are a thousand metres per second relative to the rotating interior. Jupiter's magnetic field is four thousand times stronger than Earth's, and is tipped by 11° degrees of axis spin. This causes the magnetic field to wobble, which has a profound effect on trapped electronically charged particles. This plasma of charged particles is accelerated beyond the magnetosphere of Jupiter to speeds of tens of thousands of kilometres per second. "Countdown" by Jupiter One Directed by K Ishibashi (singer) and Zach Bliss. Basically we shot all the stop motion every weekend for 4 months straight in our living room with a digital still camera. All the cutouts are printouts of video frames. All the subway shots were done strictly without permission at 5 in the morning. Enjoy

English composer Gustav Holst composed The Planets between 1914 and 1916. The Birmingham premiere of the suite took place in 1918, fifteen years before Pluto was discovered. Though the Planets became by far the most popular work of Holst's and one of the most known pieces by an English-born composer, Holst did not consider the piece one of his finest. Partially because of this, he never wrote an eighth movement, though unexpectedly the IAU relegated Pluto from its status as planet proper in 2006.
