In May 1987, Muppet master, Jim Henson conducted an international workshop in Puppetry for Film and Television in Charleville-Mezieres, France. This short film is one of five student films recorded during that incredible course.

In probably the best episode of the buch, a boy gets more than he bargins for when he learns that his idol, a creature effects gruru, is working under his nose. Plus, early on, Jim explains about the Creature Shop and shows off his devil from an episode of The Storyteller, which scares the Lion.

My name is Paul Louis. And I guess you could call me a bitter puppeteer. Actually, I'm not bitter, ... anymore. But here's my story.... This is a demo of me with some puppets I built, showing my puppeteer skills. I sent this to The Jim Henson Company. Kevin Clash (the puppeteer who does Elmo on Sesame Street), saw it and called me at my home to tell me that he really liked it and would hire me directly as a puppeteer. Next to the late Jim Henson himself, Kevin is one of my idols. So needless to say, I was thrilled. It was very surreal, and I thought I dreamt the whole thing. A few days later, when I got the official letter from the Jim Henson Company confirming everything Kevin had said to me on the phone, I knew it was for real. So that was about 4 years ago. And with several unanswered "follow up" letters later (borderlining on stalking the friggin' guy), I'm still waiting to get the "come to work" call. Kevin, I still love ya, but what's the problem? My Muppeteer friends tell me you're very forgetful. Could that be it? You saw my potential, and now, about 48,000 on YOUTUBE alone have seen it as well. YOU CALLED ME AT MY HOME, saying over and over "I can't believe you never worked for us"! So I must have done something right in the vid. Correct? .... Oh, what's the use? You know, friends of mine, who are actual Sesame Street and Muppet puppeteers, say that with all the cool accomplishments I've had thus far, I should not even want to work for JH. I should just continue to do my own thing. ....But I still want to. If you've ever had a dream since your early childhood, and have come so close to having it fullfilled, you might understand. I grew up in Queens, NY, in a neighborhood only a few blocks away from Astoria Studios (where they produced Sesame Street). I never tried to go in. I was a shy young kid. But I should have made myself known. I also once worked as an usher at Radio City Music Hall. One day, after a show there, I was kicking up seats as the theater was almost empty. I heard a Kermit-like voice asking me, "Excuse me, can you help me?" I turned around, and it was my idol, Jim Henson. I said "Mr, Henson!". I swear, I was about to ask him if I could audition for him. But he then said, "Can you help me find my daughter. She's 6 and I can't find her". So it was not the right time to ask a very worried father, for work. I took him over to Security, and yes, they found his youngest daughter, Heather. And then years later, this call from Kevin Clash. You know, I guess it really wasn't meant to be, eh? Ok, enough self pity rambling. I've publicly vented now. And I promise I'm not bitter anymore, because I have been blessed with so many other more important treasures. Morale of this long story, have faith, .... in carrying on. (And Rest in Peace, Jim.) ....Pauly

In a Jim Henson comedy short from 1965, Scoop and Skip bring viewers behind the scenes at Muppets Inc. while they produce a commercial for Wilson's Meats. Completely brilliant.

POLICE say they expect to lay charges after seizing more than 20 photographs from a controversial exhibition in Sydney that features images of naked 12- and 13-year-old girls. You Can Find Out More Here http://ziccy.blogspot.com/search?q=Bill+Henson Rose Bay Local Area Commander Allan Sicard said NSW Police expected to prosecute over the images by artist Bill Henson, which were to go on display at the Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery in Paddington last night. The exhibition was shut down just before it was due to open. "Police are investigating this matter and it is likely that we will proceed to prosecution on the offence of publish an indecent article under the Crimes Act," he said, but would not specify who was likely to be charged. Last night Prime Minister Kevin Rudd called the images "revolting", while Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson said they "violate Australian values". Henson and the gallery have defended the work as art. "Bill Henson is one of Australia's leading contemporary artists and is internationally respected," they said. "His works are held in every leading art institution in Australia and are included in the collections of a number of the world's most prestigious art museums." 'Inviolate' Earlier, Henson defended his work as seeking to explore "something which is absolutely inviolate and unknowable". He told The Australian: "You can't control the way individuals respond to the work." Mr Rudd has said the images have no artistic value. "Kids deserve to have the innocence of their childhood protected," he said on Channel 9. "Whatever the artistic view of the merits of that sort of stuff - frankly I don't think there are any - just allow kids to be kids." Dr Nelson said: "This photographic exhibition, from what I have seen and what I have been advised, violates the things for which we stand as Australians and indeed as parents." Art experts said the critics need to take another look at the works. Judy Annear curated a exhibition of Henson's work at the Art Gallery of NSW in 2005-2005 which was seen by 65,000 people. She said there was not a single complaint. "Bill's work isn't the problem here, it's just a convenient kind of whipping boy. I couldn't work with Bill if I thought he was abusing children," she said. The Roslyn Oxley9 gallery's manager Amanda Rowell called him a "master". "It has never been like this before. This is no different to any other exhibition he's had and he's had many exhibitions here," she said. "He's a master, there's no one in the world like him."

Excerpt from this 26 min documentary on controversial Melbourne photographer Bill HENSON, set against the Venice Arts' Biennial where he was the Australian Artist representative with a major exhibition.

Doris Henson is my friend's band. I like this song. They are from Kansas City. and that's my review. I had this idea of a guy with his arms outstretched to the Moon (this looks like the Sun). It means a number of things: worship, acceptance of mortality and fate, and shit, I don't know what else. I'm sleepy. The drawing took about 30 minutes.

In the studio writing with Mariah for a new new joint!!!! In LA working at the legendary A&M Recording Studios (Henson).
