The situation in Guantanamo Bay is beyond the law. "Enemy Combatants" have been detained without charges and recourse for 6 years and longer. Sometimes released after the accusations were found to be groundless. The executive branch now has the power to declare anyone as 'enemy combatant' and right of habeus corpus, the right to self-defense, has been taken away. This is the foundation of US law and must be opposed on all fronts, regardless of political partisanship. The Supreme Court has ruled recently against our current regime, but left it to appellate courts to make adjustments. Ordinary citizens MUST speak out, before it is too late. Contact your Senators and Representatives on this issue. Relentlessly. Please.
